These values help us create a happy, nurturing environment where children feel safe, confident, and ready to learn. And when home and nursery work together, our little ones benefit the most! Here’s how we live out our values each day — and some simple ways you can support them at home too.
1. Encouraging Good Behaviour and Developing Boundaries
We use praise, clear routines, and gentle reminders to help children understand what’s expected and to make positive choices – we use our star of the week certificates, passports and stickers to promote positive behaviour, choices and achievements.
At home: Keep routines simple and consistent. Praise good behaviour and explain calmly when things go wrong.
2. Developing Respect and Empathy
Through play and stories, we help children think about others’ feelings and learn to be understanding and kind. Our staff role model this through interactions with each other and the children.
At home: Talk about emotions and ask, “How do you think your friend felt?”
3. Teaching Good Manners and Being Kind
We model polite behaviour, saying “please,” “thank you,” and showing care for others.
At home: Encourage polite words and praise those small acts of kindness that make a big difference.
4. Feeling Safe and Secure
We build trusting relationships, so every child feels cared for and confident to explore and learn.
At home: Offer comfort, reassurance, and predictable routines to help your child feel safe but also balance this with taking risks and trying new things.
5. Encouraging a Positive Attitude, Confidence and Perseverance
We celebrate effort, not just results — helping children learn to keep trying, even when something feels tricky. We celebrate the #LittleWins each day for children’s individual achievements.
At home: Encourage independence with words like “You’re doing your best!” or “Let’s try again together.”
6. Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle
From active play to exploring healthy foods, we encourage children to make healthy choices every day. We also provide sports sessions for our children to be active and learn important physical skills.
At home: Try cooking healthy snacks together and enjoy active play outside whenever you can.
7. Supporting British Values and Cultural Identity
We celebrate diversity, respect, and inclusion — helping children understand and appreciate different cultures and traditions.
At home: Share your own family traditions and talk about how everyone is special and unique.
8. Learning and Achieving Together
We love working as a team! Children learn to share ideas, work together, and celebrate each other’s successes – our children love getting stamps in their passports!
At home: Work together on small projects, like puzzles or baking, and celebrate achievements together.
9. Having a Voice, Listening to Others and Sharing Our Ideas
Children are encouraged to express their thoughts, make choices, and listen carefully to others. They can express themselves during circle time, choose activities or facilitate their own learning outcomes.
At home: Give your child small choices (“Which story shall we read tonight?”) to help them feel heard.
10. Taking Risks and Overcoming Challenges
We support children to try new things and build resilience — learning that it’s okay to make mistakes.
At home: Let your child try things independently, even if it gets a little messy!
11. Exploring Different Environments
We love to explore! Whether it’s the garden, a nature walk, or a local trip, new experiences help children learn about the world around them.
At home: Explore local parks or nature spots and chat about what you find together, talk about the different things you see on the journey to and from nursery.
12. Developing Relationships with Parents and Families
We truly value our partnership with families — together, we make the biggest difference for our children.
At home: Keep in touch with us! Share any achievements, special events, or ideas — we love to celebrate alongside you.
Value of the Month
Each of our nurseries chooses a Value of the Month, which is woven into our curriculum and daily routines. Our teams plan exciting activities and experiences that help children explore, understand, and live out these values in fun and meaningful ways.
Look out each month on your nursery’s planning boards to see which value we’re focusing on and find ideas to continue learning and talking about it at home. Together, we can help children develop the values that will guide them for life!
